Welcome Message:Our Town News is a monthly publication that is going to
celebrate the people, places, lifestyles, and happenings in our small towns here in
Westmoreland County. The publication is going to focus on the things that are missed
by the "big" papers - the personalities & events that might be important to
national papers, but are important to YOU. We feel that we have a lot to offer to
the citizens of the area's scattered communities.
First and foremost, our mission is to
be the voice of our readers. They are the people who live here and the ones who are most
likely to patronize your business.
We WILL spotlight the people, the
civic organizations, the volunteer fire departments, and what's going on in the churches.
We will not overlook the youngsters involved in scouting, school projects, and 4-H. We
will be interested in senior citizens, in local attractions, recreation, and history. We
will welcome newcomers, as well as get acquainted with the old timers. We certainly won't
overlook highlighting our advertisers because we believe that people enjoy knowing about
merchants and service providers who are part of the local economy.
Where will we be, as we progress?
Draw a big circle around New Alexandria, and head in all directions. We will be in Salem
Township, Slickville, Crabtree, Avonmore, Saltsburg, and heading east down the highway.
You will see that we care about the coal patch towns, the outlying churches, and the
little businesses that are tucked on the back roads. We will be meeting and greeting you
and your neighbors. It is going to be a fun ride for all of us.
